Mr. Josh Swain is a fine arts educator, choreographer, adjudicator and clinician that works with groups across the country. Mr. Swain’s introduction to the musical and pageantry arts started in high school band and color program and grew from there. Originally from North Florida, he is an alumni of the University of Florida and the UF Fightin’ Gator Marching Band’s Florida Visual Ensemble. Mr. Swain also performed with small collegiate-based modern dance companies and ensemble in the Gainesville area during his collegiate studies.
Professionally, Mr. Swain has worked with renowned programs in the drum corps activity such as the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets, Genesis, Music City, The Cavaliers, and most recently Spirit of Atlanta.
Mr. Swain’s instructional and design credits extend to WGI/BOA Finalist programs including the Pride of The Netherlands A & Open Winter Guards, The Edge Independent Winter Guard, East Coweta High School, Mustang High School, Jupiter High School, Sebastian River High School, and Kennesaw Mountain High School.
Mr. Swain most recently served as the director of the Cherokee High School Color Guard and Dance Programs and leads both the design and instructional staff teams for the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Yellow Jacket Marching Band’s Color Guard and nationally competitive winter guard. Additionally, he is an active adjudicator for marching band and winter guard competitions operating in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and California.
In addition to his work within the color guard activity at the high school, collegiate, and DCI level Mr. Swain is a School Nutrition Specialist for the Food & Nutrition Services of the Cobb County School District.
